1.Searching the web for your photo (Google, SerpApi)
Hani first tries to recognise the product by its barcode or model number; in that case your photo is not sent to Google. If the product cannot be recognised this way, we need to search with the photo to find the cheapest price across the web. This is what we ask your consent for.
- Data processed
- Your scan photo, cropped where possible to show only the product and downscaled (max. 800 pixels, 500 KB). Your device ID, account details and location are not sent.
- Purpose
- Identifying the product in the photo with Google Lens and finding its sellers and prices in Türkiye from Google Shopping results.
- Recipients
- SerpApi LLC (USA) — forwards the photo to Google on our behalf and returns the results to us. Google LLC (USA) — processes the photo in Google Lens. How Google processes the image is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
- International transfer
- The photo is transferred to these recipients' servers abroad, primarily in the United States. This consent also covers that international transfer (KVKK Art. 9).
- When
- Only when the product cannot be recognised by barcode or model number, on every such scan for as long as your consent remains in place. Consent is asked once and applies to later scans as well.
- Retention
- We do not store the photo. If you give consent during a scan, the cropped photo is held in temporary memory for at most 10 minutes so the search can start. The search result (product and prices, without the photo) stays in cache for 24 hours.
- If you don't consent
- Your photo is not sent to Google. If the product wasn't recognised, a search may be run only with text read from the photo such as the product name; there may be fewer results.
2.Storing photos for quality improvement
This option is only available in the iOS and Android apps, in settings, and is off by default.
- Data processed
- Photos from scans you make after turning the option on (max. 1024 pixels) and the related scan record.
- Purpose
- Measuring and improving product recognition accuracy under real conditions (light, angle, store shelf); building an evaluation data set. Our authorised team may view the photos for this purpose.
- Recipients
- The photos are stored on Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure (R2 storage, [R2 storage location]) on behalf of [Şirket Unvanı]. They are not shared with third parties or sold.
- International transfer
- The storage provider's servers may be abroad; this consent also covers that transfer.
- Retention
- At most [24 months]; deleted automatically at the end of the period. Turning the option off stops new photos being stored; stored photos are deleted within an hour when you delete your account or your data ("Delete my data" / account deletion in the app); you can also ask us by email.
- If you don't consent
- Your photos are not stored; all Hani features work the same way.
3.Withdrawing your consent
- Web search: On the website, My account or Premium page → the "Search the web too" ("İnternette de ara") switch; in the app, settings. From the moment you turn the switch off, your photo is no longer sent to Google.
- Sharing for quality: You can turn it off in the app settings. If you want photos stored before you turned it off to be deleted, write to [e-posta: privacy@…] with your device ID.
Withdrawal takes effect for the future; it does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before the withdrawal. Processing by Google of images already sent to it is governed by Google's policies.
4.Consent statement
The date your consent was given is recorded with your account or device ID and shown in settings. Each time you give or withdraw consent is also written to a consent record, which is kept for evidence purposes even if you withdraw consent or delete your data.
